Next Agriculture: Nature, People
Join us. The Foundation is an open, permeable place, and it thrives on your participation.
People, organisations, and companies from every corner of the world, who share the MUKUYU vision, are welcome as participants and are invited to join. By doing so, you can contribute to the election of members of the scientific committee and the board, as well as help indicate the path to follow.
Support Mukuyu Foundation
Mukuyu’s work is based on the financial contributions of participants and supporters. If you enjoy our research projects or simply wish to give your contribution, you can donate freely. Every form of support is welcome.
If you are enthusiastic and decide to become a Participant, you are asked to provide a minimum initial one-time contribution (which varies depending on your profile: individual, institution, organisation, company) and an annual contribution.
Join Mukuyu
Mukuyu is a Participatory Foundation, dedicated to free and independent Research.
In addition to economic support through liberal donations, which require no commitment of time or energy, you can contribute to the work and growth of the Foundation in a more active and direct way. How? By becoming a Participant. This grants you the right to join the Assembly of Participants. You will then be involved in defining and evaluating the research activities developed according to Mukuyu’s founding principles, in appointing part of the members of the scientific committee and the Board of Directors, and, if you are strongly motivated and willing to dedicate some time, you may join the Steering Committee, which is formed by the Founders. Write to us and we will give you all the necessary details.

Our Manifesto
Tells the principles that guide us. The name: Mukuyu is the name given, in Central Africa, to the Sycamore. A tree that represents our spirit: it reconnects people, food, and well-being. Where the Foundation was born: from life experiences spent in research and communication by certain people, and from a consortium of social cooperatives. The style: simplicity, kindness, and a biocentric ethic; solid, interdisciplinary science aimed at a fair and just society, promoting diversity and the exchange of knowledge and cultures. How: by imagining and conducting research projects to reconnect Nature and people; overcoming role barriers to build shared horizons. For what purpose: open science oriented toward equitable bio-systems, respectful of the resources we have received: soil, air, water, biome, people. In which fields: towards a paradigm shift in food production, through rural and urban biodiversity, respecting those who work.
The Mukuyu Foundation Charter: Participatory Foundation
It formally represents our essence, the ethics of the Founders, and the guiding principles within which the various bodies are called to develop their work. It therefore describes the purpose: “…the Foundation is non-profit and pursues civic, solidarity, and social utility goals through the exclusive or primary execution of the following activities of general interest…” and the activities: “… scientific research of particular social interest,
– interventions and services aimed at safeguarding and improving environmental conditions and at the prudent and rational use of natural resources … in the fields of agriculture and urban nature…” The Charter speaks of the assets: “… they are used for carrying out the statutory activities for the exclusive pursuit of civic, solidarity, and social utility purposes…” of how one can play an active role and support it; of the bodies that guide it and their duties: Steering Council composed of Founders, Board of Directors, Scientific Committee, Assembly of Participants: the latter will appoint part of the Board of Directors and half of the members of the Scientific Committee; and of how to become Participants.
The Charter also contains all the procedures and control tools necessary for the Mukuyu Foundation to remain faithful over time to its nature and its founding principles: both for those who will play an active role and for those who decide to support the Foundation precisely because of its underlying ethics.
If you want more details: the Charter is published on our website.
